| FarmVille Queen Bee: How to find a royal for your new hive Posted: 15 Jul 2010 10:00 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville Everyone's buzzing about the new FarmVille beehive, mostly wondering how the #$!* to find a Queen Bee. So consider yourself warned: Finding this insect will most likely be a royal pain in the backside. There are several ways to find the Queen Bee. The easiest way to find her is by keeping an eye on your Facebook Wall. Once one of your neighbors find a Queen Bee, they will also be able to share one with friends via Wall Post. Since this bee is in high demand, you'll really need to stay glued to your Wall, and click right away if you see someone giving away a Queen for free. The second easiest way to find a Queen Bee is by purchasing one in the in-game Market. You can find the Queen Bee under the Animals category, and she costs 10 Farm Cash (roughly $2). Buy it, stick her in the hive and then start collecting Honeybees. The most difficult way to find the Queen Bee is by harvesting flower crops on your farm or fertilizing flower crops on neighbors' farms. Some farmers have complained that it takes a LOT of harvesting and fertilizing (I found the same to be true) to actually find one of these rare bees. My suggestion: Start planting lots of flowers and ask your neighbors to do the same. Once you locate a Queen Bee, you'll be able to find it in the gift box and then add it to the Beehive. You'll have the option to share an extra Queen Bee with your friends, and if you're feeling generous, share the wealth. Have you found any other ways to find the Queen Bee faster? Leave a note in the comments below.

| FrontierVille's Missing Ribbons: Zynga oversight or Robbery on the Oregon Trail? Posted: 15 Jul 2010 09:30 AM PDT Filed under: FrontierVille Thread after thread after thread of concerned players brought up the issue in the official FrontierVille forums, where eventually, a Zynga moderator came in to explain that the ribbons were "taken off the list in error and will be back today (thursday in the US)." In Zynga's defense, premium copies of free items are always handy when you just don't have enough neighbors or friends playing, and you want an item quickly. But making something available for free and then taking it away, only to charge folks for it, is definitely not playing nice. Update: According to one of our readers, as of 6:03 p.m. EST, Zynga has successfully returned the Ribbons to the Free Gifts page.

| Treasure Isle lost peacocks are homeward bound Posted: 15 Jul 2010 07:50 AM PDT Filed under: Treasure Isle The only way to get a peacock of your own is by making your friends play a lot of Treasure Isle. Eventually a lost peacock will show up and your friend will be able to put it up for adoption for you to take home. Like other lost animals in Facebook games, if you find the animal you can't keep it yourself, so you better hope your friends are feeling generous. Click here to play Treasure Isle>

| The Expendables 8-Bit Game: Play 'Contra' as Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Stallone Posted: 15 Jul 2010 06:00 AM PDT How to promote an '80s movie throwback? With an '80s video game throwback, of course! A Facebook game for the upcoming action flick "The Expendables" is ripped from Nintendo's "Contra," complete with a jungle and steep difficulty level. Let's see if that Konami code still works! If none of those words made sense to you, Google is your friend (and those links to Wikipedia I've snuck into that paragraph). Let's just say the common consensus is that if you already know what 'Contra' is, you'd be squeeing like a schoolgirl with a Spread Gun right now. If you don't know 'Contra', then this might not be for you. But if you don't play it, then you won't know if you'll like it. But if you do play it, unlock Bonus Mode, and end up as a Top 10 score, you'll have a chance to win "SOME SWEET EXPENDABLES S@H*!"

| The Beatles make an appearance in Restaurant City Posted: 15 Jul 2010 05:32 AM PDT Filed under: Restaurant City Continue reading to check out the hilarious restaurant themed names and discover what it'll cost you to have them play at your eatery. John Lemon (John Lennon) - 8 Playfish Cash Mango Star (Ringo Starr) - 12 Playfish Cash Paul Macaroni (Paul McCartney) - 25,000 Coins George Halibut (George Harrison) - 36,000 Coins Restaurant City even included a hippy who could very well be a Beatles fan. My guess is his favorite album is Magical Mystery Tour, and his favorite songs: 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'I Am the Walrus.' Head to Restaurant City to check out the Beatles (or, rather, their impersonations). Perhaps even purchase the band to forever play in your very restaurant. What an honor that would be. Finally, we'd like to award kudos to Restaurant City for awesomeness. Click to play Restaurant City > Image Source: Wikipedia

| PopCap's ball-busting game Zuma heads to Facebook Posted: 15 Jul 2010 05:00 AM PDT Filed under: Bejeweled Blitz The game -- called Zuma Blitz -- will have a virtual currency which can be used to buy power-ups, an experience points system which will unlock advanced features, regular installments of new levels -- and much like Bejeweled Blitz -- weekly tournaments and real-time leaderboards where you can see how your score, medals and achievements stack up against your friends on Facebook. Zuma Blitz will also borrow the killer app from Bejeweled Blitz -- a time limit of 60 seconds in which you bust as many balls as possible. "Zuma is a very different game than Bejeweled, so the social adaptation has gone in different directions," PopCap Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Jason Kapalka says. "Zuma is already a fast-paced arcade game, so the challenge was to make it feel approachable to players of all skill levels, even with just sixty seconds to play." If this Blitz does for Zuma what it did for Bejeweled, we predict months of breaking balls on Facebook (and possibly iPhone) in the near future. PopCap says a beta version of the game will roll out "gradually" in about three weeks.

I'm definitely going to be getting on some of these awesome 60s items to hopefully peer into a decade i wasn't lucky enough to experience. Although, if I had to choose just one 60s item to purchase out of both the Psychedelic and Pop Chic themes, it would definitely be the Tie Dye Shirt. In fact, you can expect every one of my employees to be wearing it because that is an excellent piece of clothing. Far out. Head to Restaurant City to check it all out for yourself. | FarmVille's Mystery Game: Is it really better than a Mystery Box? Posted: 15 Jul 2010 01:00 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville In this week's update, FarmVille released a new Mystery Game in the Market, calling it "better than a mystery box." (We'll see about that!) If you want to play the Mystery Game, head to the Market and look under the Decorations tab. For the next six days, you will be able to play the game ... provided you're willing to part with 20 Farm Cash.If you decide to take the plunge, press 'Play,' and you'll be given access to a Pop the Balloons! game. The game itself is pretty simple, just aim using the mouse and then click once you've targeted your balloon. Once the balloon pops, you'll be rewarded with a mystery animal, which you will be able to find in your gift box. I played a single round of the Pop the Balloon! game and was rewarded with a handsome Black Stallion. If you want to try your luck again and throw another dart, you will have to pay an additional 20 Farm Cash. Before you decide to go on a spending spree, take a gander at the six mystery animals inside: From left to right, here's a list the mystery animals you can win from the game:
My personal take: While these animals are all lovely, none of them really strike me as a must-have on the farm. I question whether this new Mystery Game really is better than a Mystery Box, based on pricing alone. The game costs 20 Farm Cash to play, a Mystery Box generally costs 15 Farm Cash. If this game yielded more useful gifts -- like a Hot Rod vehicle or a bundle of Unwithers -- I could understand the motivation behind this new mystery item. Otherwise, it's just seems like a game within a game that you pay for the privilege to play.
