FrontierVille Cheats & Tips: Goals Mastery Guide Posted: 28 Jun 2010 10:30 AM PDT Filed under: FrontierVille Hey there, homesteader! If you're a FrontierVille fan, you're going to need this guide. Why? Well, one of the surprising things about FrontierVille is that it's got no place for players to see or display their achievements. Most games supply a way for players to proudly display, and keep track of, in-game milestones. These could come in the form of ribbons (FarmVille), medals (Happy Aquarium), statues (Pet Society), etc. Without this future knowledge, you can't anticipate tasks, so you can't plan ahead to make sure you've got everything you need. In FrontierVille, achievements are called "Goals", and they seem to appear and disappear like the wind. Sometimes, there can be as many as three goals at once. Sometimes, until you clear one goal, you can't see what the next one may be. Some goals can only be completed through sheer chance. Another annoyance is that you could complete a task, but be forced into a do-over, just because you did it before the goal showed up and told you to! There are probably over a hundred tasks in the game at this point, divided into about 30 main goals. And now, we've made it our mission to report every one. --- Tend Your Homestead Earns 50 Coins, 3 XP, and Experience Point Bonus for Friends 1) Harvest Three Tomatoes 2) Feed Three Chickens Hint: Ripe Crops will wither if not quickly harvested. You can always plant more. --- Clear the Land Earns 100 Coins, 6 XP, and Wood Bonus for Friends 1) Clear Three Grass 2) Chop Down Two Trees 3) Clear One Rock Hint: Chop trees multiple times to cut them down. Only trees that take more than one chop count for missions. --- Find Lost Sheep Earns 100 Coins, 6 XP, and 100 Bonus Coins for Friends 1) Find Your Sheep and Feed It TIP: It's hiding under some trees on the upper right side of your homestead. --- Prepare the Harvest Earns 500 Coins, 10 XP, 40 Food, and Free Feast (15 Food) for Friends 1) Buy One Fruit Tree at the Market TIP: Buy the Cherry Tree for 620 Coins; it's the cheapest tree available. 2) Buy One Pig at the Market TIP: Unlocking the Pig for purchase requires 3 neighbors or 5 Horseshoes. 3) Plant Seven Crops TIP: Plant Seven Clovers at 10 Coins each. It's the cheapest option, but you must harvest 'em within 5-10 min. Hint: Crops, animals an' fruit trees are a major source o' food and coins, but they take time to mature. --- Start Building A Cabin Earns 250 Coins, 6 XP, and Wood Bonus for Friends 1) Buy a Cabin at the Market TIP: Cabin costs 4 Wood. 2) Whack the Framework Three Times TIP: You need 7 Whacks to complete the Cabin's framework and 6 Wood per Whack. Hint: What you buy at the market is just a framework. It takes multiple whacks to complete a building. --- Visit Your Neighbors Earns 400 Coins, 20 XP, and Cloth for Friends 1) Visit Two Neighbors TIP: Don't visit your neighbors until this goal appears or you'll have to wait a day to try for this again. 2) Have Ten Cloth TIP: If you've already visited your neighbors, this task would be fulfilled. Hint: Invite friends to be neighbors, then click their icons to visit them. You get gifts of cloth for every visit. --- Move Lost Sheep Earns ??? 1) Move Your Sheep TIP: If you've moved your sheep before, you're going to have to move it again. 2) Own or Buy Four Fences (any type). TIP: Don't buy fences until you get this task. If you already bought some, those old purchases won't count. Hint: Use the Move and Rotate tools (inside the My Tools menu) to move and spin objects. --- You should start seeing the following goals after making it pass Level 4 ~ Addleheaded Tenderfoot --- Prepare the Ground Earns 100 Coins, 20 XP, and Food Bonus for Friends 1) Clear Seven Grass 2) Clear One Skull 3) Clear Two Rocks Hint: Watch out for snakes! --- Lay In Supplies Earns 200 Coins, 6 XP, and 10 Bonus Food for Friends 1) Have 25 Wood 2) Have 50 Food Hint: Feed animals and harvest crops for more food. --- Tame The Wilderness Earns ??? PENDING 1) Clear Ten Grass 2) Chop Down Three Trees Hint: Grass can regrow as time passes --- Spruce Things Up Earns 300 Coins, 40 XP, and a free decoration for Friends 1) Buy Two Hay Bales at the Market 2) Buy One Pitchforck at the Market 3) Buy Three Other Decorations (total of six) Hint: Decorations don't take energy to buy, and they give you XP. --- Clobber Snakes Earns 45 XP and Food Bonus for Friends 1) Clobber 3 Snakes Hint: Snakes live in grass, under rocks, and especially inside skulls. --- Finish the Cabin Earns 400 Coins, 25 XP, and Food Bonus for Friends 1) Finish the Cabin Hint: First you need wood to finish the framework. Then you can send for building materials, or buy them yourself. --- Customize Your Cabin Earns 100 coins, 25 XP, and 100 Coins for Friends 1) Customize Your Cabin Hint: To customize any building, click it and use the "customize" option. --- Keep On Farming Earns 55 XP and Food Bonus for Friends 1) Plant 25 Crops 2) Harvest 25 Crops Hint: Planting takes no energy, just coins. --- Tame the Wilderness Earns PENDING 1) Clear Ten Grass 2) Chop Down Three Trees Hint: Grass can regrow as time passes. --- Make Medicinal Tea Earns 3 Energy, 50 XP, and free Energy for Friends 1) Own One Clover Tea 2) Own Two Mushrooms 3) Own Two Purple Flowers Hint: Clover tea is found harvesting clover, mushrooms are found by clearing, and purple flowers can be found in any color of wildflower. --- Lay in Firewood Earns 35 XP, 1 Fire, and Wood Bonus for Friends 1) Buy One Forest Saw at the Market 2) Cut More Wood (50 times) Hint: Watch out for bears! --- Keep the Land Clear Earns 50 XP and 100 Coins for Friends 1) Clear 25 Grass 2) Buy One Goat Hint: Clearing the grass makes room for more wildflowers. --- Make An Orchard Earns 50 XP, 25 Food, and Apple Trees for Friends 1) Plant Two Fruit Trees 2) Have Six Fruit Trees Hint: Fruit trees are bought at the market; some can be sent as gifts. --- You should start seeing the following after completing the Get Married goals--- Do Family ChoresEarns ??? PENDING 1) Have Your Spouse Chop Down Five Trees 2) Have Your Spouse Feed 20 Chickens 3) Have Your Spouse Harvest 50 Wheat Hint: To pick who will do the work, just click the avatar. Tip: You can tell an avatar has been selected if it has a little silver star floating above its head. --- Time For Breakfast Earns 50 XP and Food Bonus for Friends 1) Buy a Breakfast Meal TIP: Buying it requires 6 Neighbors (or 5 Horseshoes for early unlock), gives you 7 Energy, and costs you 80 Food. 2) Harvest 12 Crops Hint: To get more energy, you can buy meals at the market. To harvest crops, ya might have to plant some first. --- Scare Bears Earns 65 XP and XP for Friends 1) Scare 6 Bears Hint: Bears live in the forest, especially near really big trees. Don't cut 'em all down. --- ...to be continued.

Six Flags Mascot Park advergame flops on Facebook Posted: 28 Jun 2010 10:08 AM PDT Six Flags, the giant theme park chain, launched a new Facebook advergame called Mascot Park. It starts off simple enough -- customize a mascot and then, well, that's where everything starts to fall apart. Your mascot must perform on a series of themed stages to earn coins, which can be used to buy more clothes and items for its trailer. Decorate a stage and then string together moves to create a performance -- the better it is, the more coins you'll earn. You can also send these performances to friends, but do so at your own risk -- watching these mascots dance is about as exciting as waiting on an hour-long roller coaster line at a real-life Six Flags. Mascot Park houses two other mini-games that don't fare much better. The first, Mascot Melee, is a side-scroller where you beat up friends' mascots with rubber chickens, lollipops and shoot them with bunny guns (as in guns that shoot bunnies) until their heads fall off, which you then collect before moving forward. The concept seems fun and irreverent, but that cheekiness gets lost among the confusing, unresponsive controls and gameplay that, frankly, just isn't that entertaining. The same can be said for the second game, Cannonball Chaos, where you shoot your mascot from a canon and see how far you can make it fly, flop and bounce before it loses momentum. Again, it's easy to see that the creators were going for a tongue-in-cheek vibe (who doesn't want to see an annoying theme park mascot land on coals and catch on fire?), but somehow that isn't funny enough to overlook the game's general lack of polish. There's no real instructions on what to do, so end up randomly clicking on stuff trying to keep your mascot airborne for as long as possible. At the moment, that's pretty much all there is to the game, other than decking out your mascot's trailer and checking out other friends' scores and performances. The lesson learned? Advergames still haven't been able to prove they have what it takes to attract discriminating consumers. Just because Facebook games are called 'casual' doesn't mean they should be casual in execution. Disagree with my assessment of Six Flags Mascot Park? Leave a note in the comments below.

Pirates Ahoy! Playfish's next big game? Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:29 AM PDT Filed under: Pet Society, Restaurant City, My Empire Unlike traditional video games, which get announced months, maybe years before release -- learning about Facebook games before they launch is next to impossible. That usually requires more intensive sleuthing to find hints about what's coming next. This go-round, a little gumshoeing led to the discovery of Pirates Ahoy! -- a new game from Playfish that is "currently in pre-beta testing," according to the company's Wikipedia page. A Facebook page for this pirate-themed game is also already live, complete with logo and the following description of the game:
I've reached out to Playfish for any official comment/additional information and will report back as soon as possible. Stay tuned.

Happy Pets: Mystery Gifts get a little less random Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:00 AM PDT Filed under: Happy Pets Four new gifts are now literally hoppin' on the first row of the Happy Pets gifts page. Each gift specializes in one of four types of decor:1. Accessories Mystery Gift 2. Wall/Floor Mystery Gift 3. Furniture Mystery Gift 4. Outdoor Decor Mystery Gift The official word is that the boxes offered by these free Mystery Gifts are suppose to work like the Mystery Boxes. So far, we've tried the Wall/Floor and Furniture gifts, which got us a Blue Window and Tan Padded Foot Stool, respectively. That's nothing worth celebrating, but you can always sell unwanted gifts for coins.

FarmVille Shiba Inu puppies coming soon? Posted: 28 Jun 2010 08:00 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville Shiba Inu puppies might be making their way to FarmVille soon, if these unreleased images discovered by 'The Men Who Stare at Codes' indicate anything. If that's the case, there will be a black, brown and white version of the Shiba Inu breed, and there's no indication whether these new puppies will be available for coins or for Farm Cash. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to adopt one of these cuties with coins. FarmVille Code Hunters

FarmVille Daikon crop now available in the Market Posted: 28 Jun 2010 07:41 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville As part FarmVille's ongoing Japanese theme, a new Daikon crop has been introduced into the Market. The limited edition crop will be around for 11 days. Other stats for the Daikon crops are as follows: Cost: 65 Coins Sell for: 133 Coins Harvest in: 8 Hours XP Gained: 1 XP Like other limited edition crops, there is no mastery available for Daikon crop, which is always a bit of a bummer. Would be great if Zynga would make that change so overachievers could get mastery for crops that are only around for a short amount of time. One can dream... If you have never heard of a Daikon, it's a large, white radish (it kinda looks like a giant white carrot), and it tastes milder than red radishes we eat in the US. Fun fact about Daikon radish from Wikipedia: "Despite being known most commonly by its Japanese name, it did not originate in Japan, but rather in continental Asia."

FarmVille Apple Application: In Review Posted: 28 Jun 2010 07:30 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville Mobile farming was once a dream, made true this past week. The FarmVille App that debuted (for iPhone, iPod touch) was announced at the 2010 WWDC by Zynga Founder and CEO, Mark Pincus, along with the CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs. Little information was given at the time other than talk of exclusive items for Apple device users and a potential release date near the one-year birthday of FarmVille.Farming is not exactly the same while using the App, most noticeably, there are no avatars. This may help the application run at a quicker pace, among other things. There is also ever-so-handy option to have push notifications for harvest time and free gifts. As with playing FarmVille on a computer, you can gift neighbors, buy items from the market, decorate, have lost animals wander onto your farm, and share bonuses via Facebook. When tapping on or choosing an item you have three options: put in storage, sell, and move. Selling or storing items can be done through simple clicks; moving an item can be done by dragging and dropping (players have reported lag and difficulty when moving items). All exclusive items -- Snow Leopard, Rainbow Apple Tree, and White Apple Tree -- are available for coins or as a gift, which is quite a treat along with the free download of the application. A Free Fuel Giveaway is now available, giving 1/5 of a tank each day for logging on the App. There is also an option for Apple mobile device users to purchase $FV through the iTunes store. The exchange rate of real money to $FV is the same although these users now have the option to purchase FarmVille Cash through iTunes, or to buy/use iTunes gift cards instead of purchasing through Zynga or Facebook Credits. The most noticeable difference of the application is how one plows, plants, and harvest. The feature that has true potential for topping gameplay on a computer is that one can click and drag across plots to quickly plow, plant, and harvest (if using vehicles). As shown during the announcement demonstration, check out the video here. Farming may be twice as fast with this major boost but of course the App has some major draw backs. As usual (with new features and functions) there are some bugs in the FarmVille App; many users have reported error messages stating "There seems to be an issue loading your farm" while others who are able to load the app are reporting that it crashes frequently. The fact that FarmVille Co-ops, Collections, Farmer's Market, and Storage Expansion are not available via mobile device, making them exclusive to computer game play, is a major drawback. Hopefully Zynga will be updating the app soon, so farmers have more well-rounded and smoother experience. Farming on an Apple device is not cheap with the iPod Touch starting at $199 USD and the iPhone4 at $199 USD. The iPhone 3gs has been reduced to $99 becoming the most affordable option now. If you have used the app, what are your thoughts? If not, will you go out of your way to gain access to it? This article originally appeared on FarmVille Freak.

FarmVille: Adobe Flash Plugin Loading Error and Solution Posted: 28 Jun 2010 07:00 AM PDT Filed under: Farmville Official FarmVille Forum Community Manger Grimwell addressed the issue many farmers are experiencing today when trying to load FarmVille, a gray error screen. It seems this issue has to do with Adobe Flash Player crashing in Mozilla Firefox. We know a number of folks are experiencing a gray screen error when trying to play FarmVille and wanted to share some information that may help you resolve it.Source: Official FarmvVille Forum Mozilla has assessed the flash player problem, providing this explanation: "By default, if Flash is not responsive for 10 seconds, Firefox will terminate it and display The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. YoVille: The Ultimate Guide To Earning More Coins Posted: 28 Jun 2010 06:30 AM PDT Filed under: YoVille With all the new items being released by Zynga every week, it is so important to have all the up to date information on making the most coins you can in YoVille. Here is an updated guide for you to follow in order to make that task a lot easier. If we've missed anything, make sure to post about it in comments. «Login Daily»Make sure you log into Yoville at least once a day and each day you will get more coins, up to 300 coins a day. «The Widget Factory»The Widget Factory was the place you once made a majority of your coins. However, sense the release of the new Yoville Jobs, that is no longer the case. The Widget factory is still a good source for making money in Yoville and should be visited as often as possible throughout the day. Currently you need 100 energy to complete your job at the Widget Factory and the payout is 200 to 350 coins depending on the amount of neighbors you currently have. «Yoville Jobs»The newest feature added to Yoville are the Yoville jobs! Here is a great article with all the details needed to succeed in this fun new feature in Yoville. «Coin Runs»At the bottom of your screens, you will see a ladder of your neighbors in Yoville. By mousing over them you are then given choices to visit or gift each friend. This is what we call Coin Runs or "CR"...which some of you might have seen written in messages from friends in the game. Once a day you can visit up to 25 friends and make up to 20 coins each by choosing 1 of the 6 different interactions with your friends avatar... Dance, fight, kiss, tell a joke, leave a message, or send a gift. «Take Photos»In the bottom right side of your screen you will see your chat box...where you type to interact with other players, in this area you will see a camera icon. You are given up to 5 rolls of film once a day to take pictures. You earn up to 20 coins per photo depending on the quality of your photo. «Maxing (Play Games)»In Yoville you can ask any of the other players to play a game of tic-tac-toe or rock-paper-scissors with you. Just click another player and ask him/her to play a game with you: If you win, you'll get 10 coins. If it's a draw, you both get 5 coins. If you lose, you get nothing. You can earn up to 200 coins per day by playing games. Fastest way to "max out" (= get all the coins possible per day from games) is to join an event made just for playing. Check the events-list and from there the section "games". Rules: Tictactoe (TTT) - try to get 3 symbols (X or O) in a row before the other player. Rock-paper-scissors (RPS) - Choose either rock, paper or scissors, game starts when both players have made their choice. Paper wins rock, rock wins scissors, scissors wins paper. At least 2 rounds are played. «Speedway»On bottom right corner of the map there is a speedway-arena. Here you can choose from 3 options: Race, practice or bet. By racing against your friends, you will earn 10 coins by winning a race against your friends avatars. It's possible to earn up to 200 coins per day this way. Unfortunately racing is connected to the games though (ttt and rps), so if you have already maxed out for the day with them, the wins in races won't give you any coins. They will be counted on the badgelist still. - You race by clicking and holding the left mouse button. But don't hold too long or you will flip over, and also remember to watch those oil-slicks! Get a boost from the arrows on your lane. By betting, only the sky is a limit or you can lose it all. Place a bet between 10-500 coins and choose from 3 friends which one you believe will win. «Casino»If you are feeling lucky...make your way over to the Yoville Casino! You have really good odds of winning considering all it takes to break even is 1 cherry!!! The payout can be as high as your luck will allow. «Yoville Fishing»Yoville has a really fun fishing game that I still enjoy just playing because its a challenge!! You buy some bait and pick 3 friends you want to fish against...then try and catch the heaviest amount of fish before the 2 1/2 minutes is up. You win 10 coins a game and can win up to 200 coins a day playing this game. «Buying and Trading»You can buy and sell items with other YoVillians, this is called "trading". Step by step instructions how to trade, can be found in this topic: http://yvlounge.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1891&sid=8bf0f1b2abd54517ee34edeb570921b3 You can sell the items you don't need anymore, you can make art on whiteboard and sell them or you can invest in something, for example if you have yocash, you can buy yocash-items and sell them to other players for coins (you can't trade yocash) or buy some seasonal or collectible items and wait until they are out of store and starting to raise price. This is how many people in Yoville make their fortune. You can also sell the items back to Yoville. That happens from top boxes: Click "view inventory", browse the items in there and once you've found what you want to sell, click it and it will show how much you will get from it, you can choose either "sell" or "close". When you sell back to Yoville, you get approximately 1/3 of the store-value back. YoCash-items, starter-items, houses, teleport-doors and the things you've bought from yoville.com can't be sold back to Yoville, only "removed" from inventory which won't give you any coins. «Mystery Gifts»These items are gifted to you by your neighbors and they should be returned. The amount of coins received in them varies but there is a chance at rare items in some and other have items needed to complete the Yoville collections. Click the gifts to send your friends a free mystery gift. -------- Hope this guide helps and thanks to SpiraldaWYID for doing the original post it helped in organizing this new one!! Happy Coin making!! RayanneWYID ------- This article originally appeared on YoVille Lounge.
