Barn Buddy releases two new donkey buddies

Posted:

Barn Buddy donkey and horse
Barn Buddy is a farming game similar to favorites such as FarmVille, and today they have launched two new donkeys, one grey and one brown. These two new donkeys can be found in the Shop under the Animals tab. The Brown Donkey requires 5,360 Barn Buddy Credits, but earns you 40 xp and coins every 6 hours for petting it. The Grey Donkey costs 73,542 coins, but only grants you 20xp and coins every 6 hours and you have to be level 65 in order to purchase it.

The level 65 requirement is quite a bit high on the Grey Donkey, but it's obvious they're trying to encourage people to buy the brown donkey since it requires cash to purchase it. These donkeys have a bucking animation that they do occasionally as well, which makes them fun. Unfortunately, they's basically the same donkey, except different colors, and use the same model as the limited edition Burro that was released for Cinco de Mayo.

Do you play Barn Buddy? What do you think of these two new donkeys?

Mafia Wars plans Central Mainframe Access Code system overhaul

Posted:

mafia wars secret code
Just when we were starting to commit our Central Mainframe Access Code to memory, Mafia Wars says it's going to give this new bonus system an overhaul. That means there's good news and bad news. First, the good news -- codes can be accessed in game, and will no longer need to be written down. Then, the bad news: Right now you can redeem this code for a reward daily, but post-overhaul, rewards will be doled out weekly instead. Boo.

If you're one of the few who lost your code this week, this Mafia Wars forum post says not to contact support -- "They cannot assist Users with retrieving them at this point in time." Guess you'll have to sit tight until this Central Mainframe access is retooled later this week.

Mafia Wars removes pit bulls in response to PETA complaint

Posted:

Last week, when we reported on PETA's efforts to get the recently added pit bull combat items removed from Mafia Wars, our commenters unanimously wished the organization would just go away. Instead, it seems the pit bulls are the ones going away, as Zynga has removed the animals from the game.

In a press release responding to the move, PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said she would be sending a box of vegan chocolates to Zynga CEO Mark Pincus by way of thanks. "By removing Mafia Wars' virtual pit bull, Zynga is no longer perpetuating the mindset that it's acceptable to chain, neglect, and abuse real dogs," Reiman said in the release.

If our commenters are any indication, we're sure Zynga is now fielding a boatload of complaints from players angry that their digital pets/weapons have been taken away. If anyone at the company is looking for a compromise that satisfies both sides, may we humbly suggest robot pit bulls (pictured)?

Pet Society's got a secret -- a Manhole Secret Room, that is

Posted:

pet society manhole secret room
Think back to being a kid (that's further back for some than others) and remember how many times you wished you could find a secret room in your house, whether by moving a book on a shelf to make it magically open or climbing into a wardrobe a la Narnia and finding something on the other side. Unless you lived in a very eccentric house, that probably never happened. which makes Pet Society's new secret room -- sorry, the Manhole Secret Room -- that much more intriguing.

Happy Pets: Guide to Building a Horse Stable

Posted:

Happy Pets Horses and Stable
Horses have arrived at the Happy Pets pet shop, but unless you've got 320 Facebook Credits to spend -- or the equivalent of $32 USD -- you can't unlock the horses for purchase. Because first, you need a Horse Stable. So you're going to have to get started on the long, slow, mind-numbing process of nagging, begging, and reciprocating items from the gifts page to 'build' it yourself. As such, Crowdstar is certainly taking a page out of FarmVille's own horse stable requirements.

The upside to keeping horses (or just about any animal) in Happy Pets, is that unlike FarmVille, your pets are things you can interact with, and not just static set pieces that stand like statues or occasionally glide around the screen.

FarmVille Scam Groups and the only Reward for Joining

Posted:

FarmVille Freak Tony David's Idiot Pink Ribbon
Every FarmVille Freak should know a fake FarmVille group page, scam offer, or newsfeed posting because we know that you have to work hard for your farm cash and exclusive items and that merely clicking on a link will not reap the promised rewards.

Yet, still many newbies or uninformed farmers continue to add these fake pages and join scam groups. So if you or someone you know insists on joining these scam groups hoping that they will actually work, the picture of the ribbon below is the only reward you can ever expect to receive.

Please note, this ribbon is not real or unreleased. Its sole purpose is for sarcasm and laughs.

Happy Pets: NEW! Horses and Horse Stable make a whinnying combination

Posted:

Happy Pets Horses and Stable in store
Between Horse Gaga and Horse Academy, we're starting to notice a Facebook games trend, and probably, so has Happy Pets. Today, it's turned us into happy ranchers by bringing horses into the game for the first time ever.

Happy Pets Light Bay HorseWith the exception of the Palomino, the five new color breeds that have debuted in the game are made-up. How else could we get fun colors like Cerulean and Fantasia? We've also got the Smoke Horse, which is a Black Beauty, and the white Coconut Horse, aptly named as half-shelled coconuts are a well-known sound effects trick for mimicking a trotting horse.

All of these horses can be purchased only after building a Horse Stable, which costs 800 Coins. The Fantasia and Cerulean are Facebook Credits exclusives requiring 78 FB Credits, and they're bought for looks alone, as they've the lowest selling price out of the 5 breeds. But as far as daily maintenance goes, horses are now the pet that earns the most daily XP for players.

Completing the Horse Stable will also get you a free horse (random gender), called the Light Bay (see image on right).

See the Happy Pets Horse Stable building guide here.

Restaurant City: Free Sugar and Chili says "Drink Me" Up

Posted:

Restaurant City free Sugar and ChiliAs announced yesterday, the "Drink Me" Potion is a new Wonderland Tea Party recipe that can be upgraded for a special effect when it hits level 10 -- it shrinks your customers! To level it up once, you'll need these 4 ingredients: Sugar, Water, Pineapple, and Chili. To crank it up to ten, you'll need 10 of each of those, for a total of 40.

While it's doable, gathering those 40 will take awhile. Pineapple and Chili are helped by being freely available on the gifts page, but you'll need people to send 'em to you. And Sugar can be grow on your own, but the garden's output is random. That leaves Water as the scarcest and most desired ingredient.

Right now, for a 24-hr period, two of those ingredients can be gotten for free.

Note: All links below will launch the game. You only need to keep the game window open for a few seconds to accept your free item.

Zynga and 7-Eleven promotion officially starts June 1

Posted:

7-Eleven june 1

We know there's a huge Zynga and 7-Eleven promotion coming up, and a source close to the campaign tells Games.com - The Blog! that we won't be able to get our hands on the FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille-themed Super Big Gulps until June 1 (not May 17, which is the date listed on 7-Eleven's Web site). Guess we'll just have to wait that much longer to quench our thirst for exclusive virtual items in our favorite Facebook games.

For those who aren't in the know, 7-Eleven and Zynga have partnered for what will be the biggest promotion in Facebook gaming history. 7-Eleven will roll out FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille themed drinks and snacks, which will come with a special code that can be redeemed for exclusive in-game items, such as a coffee cart (FV), Showman gun (MW) or a hamburger stand (YV).

Based on these scanned images for the promotion, we've seen all of the virtual items you'll be able to score, and which snacks you'll have to buy to get the corresponding virtual items. Plan accordingly.

FarmVille Land Expansion Coming Soon or just another Glitch?

Posted:

FarmVille Big Ole Plantation
Thank you to all the FarmVille Freaks Christine and Tanishq for sending in their pictures and notices of the Big Ole Plantation (currently 22 x 22) appearing in their market. Could this be related to the zoom out function we mentioned last night? Could this mean tonight we may have the option of expanding our farms? Or this could be just another glitch in the game.

Note: Some FarmVille Freaks may see a glimpse of it when they open up their Market and go to the Upgrade button.

FarmVille zoom feature upgrade & missing camera button returns

Posted:

FarmVille Farm
FarmVille icon windowStarting tonight, lots of FarmVille Freaks have noticed that they have the ability to "zoom out" of their farm more than usual.

If you try zooming out you will notice that you can definitely see more surrounding greenery than normal.

In possibly unrelated news the Camera or Photo task button has returned, but is still not functional.

What could this mean? Is FarmVille gearing up for the next Expansion? Or could the new ability to super zoom out be connected with the tweaked camera feature, perhaps making it easier to take full size screenshots of your farm?
