Mall World turns into Mom World with Mother's Day boutique

Posted:

Mall World Mother's Day Boutique
Mall World is celebrating Mother's Day in style with not just a limited time gift for Mother's Day, but an entire boutique filled with items. The Love Mom store is the result of a survey held earlier in the week that asked players what kind of style their moms liked to wear earlier in their lives. This new boutique has a variety of clothing an accessories to not only honor mothers everywhere, but also give them something to wear.

Here is the full inventory list of the new Love Mom store:

Printed Pocketbook - $4,200
Rainbow Platforms - 12 Credits
Ring Platform Wedges - $2,976
Macrame Purse - 20 Credits
Classic Bauletto - 25 Credits
Jet Set Case - $4,260
Rock n' Roll Boots - 20 Credits
Strappy Platforms - $1,440
Tie Front Blouse - 12 Credits
Leisure Shirt - $660
Psychedelic Hostess Dress - 27 Credits
Off-Shoulder Peasant Top - 12 Credits
Mother's Day Basket - $360
Gold Belted Cut-Off Hot Pants - $2,400
Leisure Slacks - $576
Flared Jeans - 20 Credit

There is no clear date on when this store will be closing for good, but we would encourage you to check out the Love Mom shop now while it's still available. To access this store, click on the Mall icon on the bottom of your screen, then scroll through the store names on the bottom until you find Love Mom. There are plenty of cute items in this store, and you don't have to be a mom to appreciate them!

Play Social City in massive fullscreen glory

Posted:

Social City fullscreen button
Social City have released an update today that will really make players happy - the ability to play the game in fullscreen mode! This has been a common development to occur lately as nearly all of the top Facebook games have the ability to play with the window maximized in all directions. Social City's new fullscreen feature is a seamless and good looking experience. Where other games such as Tiki Resort simply scale up the entire screen (which makes it look bloated and pixelated), Social City actually uses true fullscreen technology to make the game feel great.

To use the new fullscreen feature in Social City, there is a new button on the left side of your screen that you can press to toggle back and forth from fullscreen. When clicked, a warning message will pop up telling you that this feature is not compatible with all browsers and may cause the game to run slow. We didn't notice any performance issues when we tried it out, but on older computers being in fullscreen may cause some issues.

FishVille: Free shrimp available for fans for 1 day

Posted:

Every day this week, FishVille have been giving away a free gift to players to show appreciation to all of their fans who have supported them over the past months. Today, the reward is a cute little Shrimp. When you log into FishVille, there will be a banner above the game that tells you how to claim the fish. You can also click on this link to claim this shrimp.

Once you have clicked the link, you'll have to confirm that you actually want the accept the shrimp. Once you accept it, it will show up in your gift box within the game. We're not sure how much longer this limited gift promotion will continue, or how long the link will be active. Other free gifts have included a pair of Kissing Fish, a Lobster, a Clone Fish Ability, a King Crab, and a Minotaur. It isn't clear quite yet if we will be seeing weekend surprises as well, or if this was a weekday event. We're enjoying the free gifts though, and we bet you are too! You can never go wrong with free critters and fish in FishVille.

Have you been enjoying the FishVille player appreciation week? Log in to Fishville to claim your reward!

Tiki Resort releases new Mother's Day flower charm

Posted:

Tiki Resort Mother's Day flower charm
Just when you thought the barrage of Mother's Day themed items in Tiki Resort was over for the year, they have released yet another limited edition Mother's Day charm. The Mother's Day Charm will make all of your tourists happy and also will give you one of four random flower decorations. Because these decorations are random, it may be required to consume many more than four of these charms to get all the variations of flowers.

The Mother's Day charm is available as a free gift to send to friends and receive from your friends. You can also buy it from the Tiki Resort Shop for 19 Facebook Credits (or $1.90). It might be one of the last exclusive items for Mother's Day left, and unlike many charms that are expendable - this charm leaves behind permanent flowers that will make your resort bright and colorful.

Have you received the Mother's Day Charm in Tiki Resort yet?

Celebrate YoVille's 2nd anniversary on Super Saturday

Posted:

YoVille Second Anniversary Super Saturday
YoVille is celebrating its second anniversary tomorrow, Saturday May 8, and they're welcoming YoVille players to come celebrate with them. The game will be releasing special limited time items that will be on sale for the day, and we're sure there will be plenty of other prizes as well. So far, we can tell by the pictures that we will be seeing a built-in aquarium, a car raised up on a platform, and a helicopter with helipad.

YoVille are promising dozens of 1-day only items such as new furniture, collections, pets, and houses - so this sounds like an event not to miss if you are a fan of YoVille. If that's not limited time, we don't know what is. YoVille is one of the older successful games on Facebook, so it is awesome to see some of the oldies (but goodies) reaching their second year and still going strong. Here's to continued success for Zynga with YoVille, and many more happy players for the foreseeable future!

Expand your restaurant to a lavish size in Cafe World

Posted:

Cafe World Lavish Cafe Expansion
Do you find that you regularly run out of space in your restaurant? Well, the Cafe World gods have answered your dreams and wishes. You can now expand your cafe even larger to 15x17 so that you have plenty of room for all your decorations, stoves, and restaurant guests. The new Lavish Cafe is one bigger tile in both directions so that you can fit several more items. The price, like all other expansions is quite outrageous. If you have 16 neighbors you can buy the Lavish Cafe for 999,999 coins. Alternatively, the expansion costs 35 Cafe Cash. No matter which you decide to buy, it will cost you a pretty penny.

Like with most expansions, you will want to take the doors off your cafe as you redecorate. This will close your business down and you will not lose your buzz rating while you're busy rearranging things. In addition, make sure to not block any doors and allow plenty of room around the counters to allow your waiters plenty of room to walk around them. Finally, don't forget to put your door back in when you're ready to open up shop again.

Currently, there is a preview for the Astounding Cafe, which is not available yet. We think this is a nice feature, but it costs much more in Cafe World than in other games. We think it's a bit pricey. What do you think?

Report: FarmVille fights Facebook with Zynga Live

Posted:

Breaking is up is hard to do, and no one knows that more than Zynga and Facebook, whose relationship has been contentious of late. According to a report on TechCrunch.com, Zynga is preparing a backup plan in the form of Zynga Live, the company's own branded social networking site.

That would make sense, especially as Zynga's been pulling out all of the stop to capture user data, requiring players to hand over emails in order to continue playing their games and asking players to sign up for separate Zynga accounts. And now, according to an anonymous source, the FarmVille creator will be trying to get players to move away from Facebook completely, and playing FarmVille and a slew of other games on Zynga Live instead. From the initial report on TechCrunch:

On Thursday evening at 5 pm, we've confirmed, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus held an all hands meeting to tell employees that they may need to prepare for a break with Facebook. We received this email from one anonymous source, and we've confirmed it is largely accurate:

Pincus announced at a 5pm meeting yesterday at Zynga that Zynga was going to launch a social game network called Zynga Live. The Zynga Live initiative was a social gaming network. Facebook and Zynga has been negotiating on Facebook Credits and the talks turned for the worst. In the negotiation process, Facebook shut off Zynga's feeds and threatened to shut down games. Zynga in the process threatened to completely leave Facebook and prepared to do so in the previous upcoming weeks.

When will this break happen? Anytime from now to the next six months, according to the article. The big question, however, is how will FarmVille and the other Zynga game fare without the power of Facebook behind them? Would you be willing to go outside of Facebook to continue playing these games? We say 'probably,' but we'll see what happens once the Zynga revolution begins.

FarmVille Loses 4 Million Players Last Month, Why are Farmers leaving FarmVille?

Posted:

Farmville losing players
While FarmVille is still without question the number one Facebook game, consisting of a strong 78 million active users, over 4 million farmers left FarmVille last month. It is important to mention that at least 18 out of the top 25 Facebook games also experienced significant decline in users. So why is it that most games are losing active users? Are farmers leaving the farm for treasure hunting and island adventures?farmville

While many people are adopting the virtual life in Treasure Isle, the fastest growing game of 2010, it is unlikely to contribute to the entire loss. Many farmers can enjoy farm life and simultaneously search for treasure due to the nature of Treasure Isle's energy requirements. While providing a nice distraction when waiting for your crops to grow, unlike FarmVille, Treasure Isle and games like Mafia Wars are not always available for play since they are dependent on energy packs. So what is causing the decline in most of Facebook's top 25 social games?

Wild Ones plans essential Update in response to fan outrage

Posted:

Last week, Wild Ones released an update that added respawns and changed the way the game is scored. This created a different, deathmatch style game. However, they could never have expected the reaction from the fans. While we were willing to give the new system a shot, many fans were furious at the changes made to the game they had grown to love. After all, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Wild Ones quickly realized their error in tampering with the last man standing style gameplay and are now promising to provide a solution. Players will soon be able to choose between the new and the old, making everyone happy.

Posted:

Farmville sweet seeds for haiti loading screenSome FarmVille Freaks have seen this new loading screen appear. Looks like FarmVille is going to keep pushing the Sweet Seeds for Haiti. Like many FarmVille Freaks, I would like to see Zynga branch out and donate to other organizations!

The flags in the picture depict the special prizes given when you donate to this Sweet Seeds campaign. The purple flag is given to those who donate and the pink flag can be shared as a Facebook newsfeed which will give your neighbors the opportunity to "adopt".

What other non profit organizations should Zynga support?

FarmVille Baby Bobcat prowls into the in-game market

Posted:

After days of teasing farmers with an image of the Bobcat on the FarmVille loading screen, this brown furball finally sees fit to prowl into the in-game market. This 'lovable' feline will only be around for a limited time -- 23 days in fact -- and costs
22 Farm Cash. You can buy it for yourself, or send it to a neighbor as a gift.

After two days the cat can be harvested (we presume that means we'll be able to 'brush' the cat for coins) and if -- for whatever reason -- you want to sell this little guy, you can do so for 80 coins.

Pardon us if we interject a remark here, but 22 Farm Cash seems a little on the high side for a cat, as adorable as it may be. Do you agree?
