FarmVille's first sponsored crop, peanuts, coming next week

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 08:15 AM PDT

As if Zynga wasn't making enough revenue off of Farmville via in-game Farmville Cash cards, in-store currency cards, and lead-generation advertising offers, the company is set to debut a new cash-generator in the game next week -- branded crops.

Isreali candy maker Saatchi and Saatchi revealed yesterday that they had purchased the rights to "the first ever introduction of a commercially inspired crop to the hit real-time farm simulation game." The peanut crop, which hits the game April 14, will promote the company's new "Elite Taami Nutz" bar, although the exact method of that promotion remains unclear. Perhaps the peanuts will come with some sort of in-game machine that refines the raw peanuts into bar form (which, as we all know, unleashes their awesome power).

iPhone social network makers welcome Apple's Game Center

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 07:15 AM PDT

You'd think that the company's behind the iPhone's existing third-party social gaming networks would be shaking in their boots over Apple's announcement yesterday of Game Center, a social gaming network that will be integrated into the next iPhone operating system. Surprisingly, though, those companies are saying publicly that they're ready to welcome Game Center with open arms.

VentureBeat has a good round up of recent public statements from the makers of iPhone social gaming networks OpenFeint, Plus+ and Scoreloop, and they're all invariably excited about Apple's arrival on the social gaming scene. NGmoco chief publishing officer Simon Jeffrey even went so far as to say Game Center will " clean up the social space on the iPhone, which has become confusing and cluttered to consumers due to the number of social gaming networks vying for attention." Uh, hey, Jeffrey... someone ought to tell you that you're part of the problem Apple is solving there.

Of course, not everyone is sure Apple is providing the ideal solution. Scoreloop's Marc Gumpinger seems confident that his company's product "with its virtual goods architecture and in-game monetization fully in effect," goes much farther than Apple's more basic offering. Gumpinger even boasts that his company's "infrastructure enables any developer to be the next Zynga - and that on the even bigger scale with billions of handsets in the mobile market." We don't know that such grand predictions really apply to any company, but we're willing to admit that the Zynga of the mobile gaming space is just waiting to be found.

PetVille pets get personality

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 05:01 AM PDT

PetVille has an update brewing that may give our pet pals some personality. 'Pet-sonalities' will differenciate pets with various character traits, such as those who are outgoing or artistic.

PetVille players can currently customize their homes, decorations, and clothes. We hope the new pet personalities will be another way to make our pet even more unique.

Fans have been creating quite a buzz in anticipation for the update and its implementation. We sympathize with those pleading for the update to involve coins rather than PetCash. All pets deserve a little personality.

So far, further specifics are sparse, but keep checking back here for posts with all the new details.

FarmVille Circus Elephant Co-op Reward

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 04:40 AM PDT

In last night's FarmVille update two new Co-op Jobs became available, Tossin' Tomatoes and A Very Berry Field Trip. We previously posted that users were seeing two different Gold Awards for the Tossin' Tomatoes Job, one of them being a Circus Elephant. Many were wondering, including myself, what reward would be given if Gold were completed.

Today a FarmVille Freak, Just_Em, sent in this picture of their Circus Elephant! So what was thought at first to be a possible glitch, is not? Lets hope we all can receive a Circus Elephant and Tossin' Tomatoes.

Will you go for Gold to try and receive the Circus Elephant?

PetVille: New Bluebell Flower Challenge

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 04:30 AM PDT

PetVille has rolled out a new challenge for fans eager to earn some goodies. "Bluebell, My Belle" calls for pets to place seven bouquets of bluebells in their homes.
To buy flowers, find a vase in your pet's house and click it, just like you would the food bowl to buy food. A flower menu of sorts will open and bluebells are located at the top left of the screen.

Compared to others, this challenge is relatively easy, especially for higher leveled pets. Bluebells are the cheapest and fastest wilting flower, only costing 50 coins and replaceable after just 2 hours.
Don't forget, if you've unlocked additional rooms, many of them come with vases of their own that can be filled with bluebells. It is possible to own up to four vases in which case, this challenge can be completed in just two hours!

Head over to PetVille to get started on this challenge, it's only around for another four days.

SPP Ranch: Outer Space Item invasion

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 03:57 AM PDT

Like Restaurant City and Roller Coaster Kingdom, SPP Ranch has been blasted by a wave of space themed items. Blending the cuteness of SPP Ranch with alien technology, the new releases are definitely some of the more creative outer space items we've ever seen.

In addition to the store items, lost goodies such as the Astrosheep Plushie (above), are turning up on ranches for players to share with their friends. Should you encounter one of these special gifts, remember to be generous, as the offer won't last forever.

Be sure to take a look at some of the unique items after the break.

The items range from martian crystals to jetpack enhanced robot bunnies. While some of the most fantastic items cost money bought Gold, many of the items do sell for normal coins.
However, like all special SPP Ranch releases, the items are in limited stock and flying off shelves. At noon I went to buy a white spaceship and it had already sold out!

So head over to the store yourself and check out the new outer space themed items.

Feeding Your FarmVille Puppy

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 02:19 AM PDT

As its just about 24 hours since we got our FarmVille Puppies, more details are coming out. Here is what your need to know about feeding your cute little Puppy:

- Kibble is available for 5 $FV or through gifting from neighbors (free)
- There is a feeding countdown, after feeding it will say "Hungry in 23:45″ when that count down is done it will say "Feed in 23:45″. So does this mean that Puppies are much like crops? So your Puppy will not run away if it goes just under two days without food?
- If you do not feed your Puppy it will run away (only coin Puppy). If you don't take proper care of your Puppy, you will see an icon when entering your farm and receive a pop-up that asks you to pay a fine of 3$FV and rescue your Pup from the pound

As our Puppies develop and grow, we are sure to see new features and options. How very exciting!

Has your Puppy runaway? If so, what was your experience?

FarmVille Circus Elephant?

Posted: 09 Apr 2010 01:58 AM PDT

In perhaps a glitch, some FarmVille Freaks like Dr. Green Thumb are reporting that their Co-Op Tossin' Tomato job lists a "Circus Elephant" as the Gold Reward. Could the Circus Elephant be an Unreleased item, soon to come? Or are both prizes, Tossin' Tomatos and Circus Elephant potential prizes?
The Circus Elephant is different from the Baby Elephant and the Indian Elephant. Refer to screenshot picture below to see how it looks!

Which Gold Reward do you see? Tossin' Tomatos or Circus Elephant?
