More FarmVille Players receive access to Co-Op farming

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 03:00 PM PDT

In the official announcement from Zynga today about the new Co-Op farming function, Channel Zero stated the following:

"PLEASE NOTE: Co-Op Farming is being slowly rolled out to all of our players at this time to prevent and contain technical issues that may arise. Only a small percentage of players will be able to start jobs at present, but if your neighbors and friends have started a job you may join theirs. We will update you as soon as this changes."

After several enhancement messages it seems this is very true, more and more players have access and are able to "Join Co-Ops" via the Facebook home feed.

FarmVille Freak -Adam-s A Pack of Pickled Patty Pan Co-op, who also reports there are now currently 9 active members.

To read more details about this release, read more here at: Co-Op Farming at FarmVille Official Forum.

Are you now able to join a Co-Op and see the available jobs? If so, what job are you currently doing?

FarmVille Co-Op Farming Problems: No jobs for willing farmers

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 01:17 PM PDT

FarmVille Co-Op Farming Problems
FarmVille Co-Op farming has just been released, but it is already getting off to a rock start. Be patient FarmVille Freaks, as Zynga is no doubt working out the kinks and glitches.
No one is currently able to accept a job. Although, there are a lot of farmers ready and willing to work!
Farmville co op farming problems
As shown in the picture above, you will eventually be able to request help from your FarmVille neighbors on completing a Co-Op job by sharing a notice via your Facebook newsfeed. Your neighbors will have the opportunity to accept your job offer and then will be taken back to FarmVille where they will be lead by a Yellow Arrow indicating to click on the Co-Op Farming Icon. After clicking on the icon, those who have accepted a job (like myself), are experiencing a Pop-Up notice indicating that "No Jobs were found". It seems that the function for accepting jobs is temporarily disabled.

Please, stand by as the Zynga gods work on the solutions to the initial glitches of Co-Op Farming. We can't wait to see more how this complex upgrade will work.

Did you experience this glitch?

FishVille Aquarium coming soon to PetVille

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 10:27 AM PDT

PetVille has announced that new decorations for our dens are on the way. Zynga discussed in particular the animated FishVille Aquarium. The decoration will be available soon and will have two animated fish swimming around the tank. Details were sparse, but we imagine it will be similar to the Happy Aquarium Tank in Happy Pets (pictured below).

Happy Pets allows players a second Yard

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 09:57 AM PDT

Almost two months ago, Happy Pets let the dogs (and cats) out by expanding homes with yards. The addition was a real breath of fresh air. In fact, since I added a yard, my pets haven't come back inside once. The success of Happy Pets yards motivated CrowdStar to go one step further.
Now players can expand to a second yard so all your ducks, bunnies, parrots, pigs, dogs, cats, and hamsters can enjoy the great outdoors. To get a second yard you must be Level 15 or pay 15 Facebook Credits. Head over to Happy Pets to check it out.

Restaurant City introduces table for two

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 09:36 AM PDT

Restaurant City has finally released a table that sits two customers. The Long Spring Table has a lovely table cloth, but more importantly, it has enough space for two big Restaurant City meals.

If you sit two people down at a regular single table, only one will be able to eat and the other will become frustrated and leave. The alternative is simply joining two tables but it looks a little awkward. In addition, yelling across two joined tables just is not appropriate for romantic Restaurant City dates.

The downside about the new Long Spring Table is that it costs 5 Playfish Cash. As you can see in the pictures above, the table does still occupy the same amount of space as two single tables. But if aesthetics and decor are of up most importance to you, perhaps this is the table for you. Check it out for yourself in the Restaurant City store.

Treasure Isle: Everything you need to know

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 07:30 AM PDT

Treasure Isle
Treasure IsleTreasure Isle is the latest game from Zynga, the game developer behind classic Facebook games like FarmVille, YoVille, Cafe World, and Mafia Wars. Released, on April 1st, Treasure Isle is far from an April Fools' prank: this relaxing, fun, and addicting game has the potential to be an instant hit.

Treasure Isle combines a bunch of different Facebook games into one awesome title. However, because of this mixture, this new game may be confusing to some. To help players who are planning on diving into Treasure Isle, we've gathered everything you need to know in order to succeed as a treasure hunter.

The game is loaded with great features, so be sure to check out the many secrets, tips, and tricks. Click the link below to read the guide.

In Treasure Isle you set out set out to become a famous adventurer on a search for treasure. Your quest will take you digging for valuable treasure with your friends across exotic islands full of surprises. You'll earn money, explore strange places, and decorate your very own island as you explore the Treasure Isle world.
Treasure Isle
Treasure Isle borrows ideas from a variety of popular Facebook games, but also introduces features of its own. It takes the treasure hunting mechanic from Treasure Madness, the decorating from Cafe World, the crop growing from FarmVille, and the energy meter from Mafia Wars. However, it's the fusion of all these things that makes Treasure Isle so unique.

Create a Character
The best thing to do first in Treasure Isle is personalize your treasure hunter. To do so, click on your adventurer, choose your gender, then underneath click the Edit button to customize your face and outfit. In the spirit of the island paradise, I decided to rock flip flops, an adventurer's shirt, and a manly mustache. The system is almost identical to FarmVille's character editor so it shouldn't be too complicated.

Treasure Hunting
At the heart of Treasure Isle is the quest for treasure. From your home island, click the boat to open up the travel map. This map shows you your progress on each island. To travel to an island select it.

Once at an island, you can click the dark patches of land to search them for treasure. This requires energy which is shown in a recharging meter at the top of your screen. Depending on nature of the land, you'll need different tools and different amounts of energy. For example, digging in sand or mud requires a shovel and expends 5 energy. Looking under plant or a palm tree requires 7 energy and a machete (which can be purchased for 500 Coins).

Treasure Isle

Clicking a plot of land gives you one experience towards your next level up. As you dig around the island, you'll find coins, fruit, treasure, or often nothing at all.

At higher leveled islands you'll also need colored gems to open gates. These gems can be bought in the store, traded with friends, or grown on trees at your home island.

Energy
Energy is precious in Treasure Isle and you'll quickly be looking for any way to get more. Fortunately, there are a few ways to gain energy:
Treasure Isle Energy
The first way is simply by waiting. You receive one point every five minutes; so if you're patient, that is a slow, yet cheap way to regain energy.

Second, you can eat fruit discovered while hunting for treasure out on the islands. I was cutting some brush at Sunny Shores island and discovered a banana, I ate it and received 10 energy.

Third, you can grow and harvest your own fruits at your home island. There are different fruits available that offer various amounts of energy. More on growing crops below.

You can also send and receive fruit from friends. Free gifts are found in most Facebook games and Treasure Isle is no exception. You can send fruit, decorations, and animals to your buddies and ask them to return the favor.

Finally, you can completely recover your energy by buying an energy refill in the store for 10 Island Cash.

Treasure
As you find treasure, it will categorize them into various sets. Once you have collected t set of five you can trade in the treasure for large amounts of Coins. Can't find one pesky treasure in particular? You can add it to your wish list so your friends can help you out. For example, if you happen to have two of the Forest God Tiki Statue treasure, you can send one to a buddy to help their collection. After all, the set is useless unless you have all 5 treasures.

Home Island
Treasure Isle
Hunting for treasure is just a portion of the Treasure Isle experience. You also have a home island that can be expanded, fully decorated, and planted on. To head back to your home island from another island, either click the Return Home button at the bottom left or jump in your boat and click the Home Island button at the top right of the map.

Treasure Isle starts you off with few possessions so its up to you to trade in your treasures for big money and personalize your island with decorations, buildings, and animals.

Farming
As mentioned above, your island allows you to grow crops and trees that will help you out on our adventures, searching for treasures. To plant some seeds, click the empty plot and select a fruit from the window. Come back when the crops are done to collect them. Don't take too long though, or your precious energy yielding fruit will wither.
Treasure Isle Store

Store
The store is the go to place for customizing your island. There are tabs for trees, animals, vehicles, decorations, and for expanding the island. The inventory also includes tools for treasure hunting like valuable energy refills or dynamite that will blast away rocks out in the field. The store is full of goodies so be sure to do some browsing.
Treasure Isle store
Leveling Up
As you make progress, moving from island to island collecting treasure you'll gain experience. Gain enough and you'll level up, unlocking new decorations in the store, new free gifts, and more options. You can also gain experience by visiting your neighbors and helping them with their islands by scaring away seagulls, and other small tasks. Keep gaining experience and leveling up and before long your island will be decked out with the coolest items and animals.

Treasure Isle is shaping up to make quite a splash on Facebook. Here in the office, some are even arguing it could be the FarmVille killer! Don't just take our word for it though. You've learned the basics, now it's your turn to set off on your very own Treasure Isle adventure.

Treasure Isle on Facebook: Is it a FarmVille Killer? [poll]

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 05:00 AM PDT

On April 1, Zynga launched Treasure Isle, a new treasure hunting game on Facebook. We haven't been able to spend much time with the game, after all, it's not even 24 hours old yet, but we're wondering -- do you think this new game will be a FarmVille killer?

Sharon White, one of our in-house social gaming experts, says that she likes the game because its "it's a nice cross between FarmVille (you get to plant), Cafe World (you get to decorate) and Mafia Wars (you have to replenish energy)." Sharon says she thinks the game may have the potential to overtake the #1 Facebook game FarmVille ... if there are enough customization features for your island.

"I'd [also] really love to see more questing types of things instead of just digging up an island," Sharon adds, "like maybe a list of things you must find, and you have to travel from place to place to find them."

So, we've heard what Sharon thinks of Treasure Isle, but now it's your turn -- Is this new game going to topple FarmVille ? Let us know in the poll below.

Saddle Valentini Puffer in Pet Society

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 03:41 AM PDT

There's a new fish in the Pet Society pond, the Saddle Valentini Puffer. It can be caught with pretty much anything it seems. Takami says he caught it with a bottle of milk, plus Pro Fishing Gear. Jp says a Hot Cross Bun will do just fine, without the pro gear. Modo can't remember which bait she used, except that it was green. So apparently, catching the Saddle seems quite random.

The Saddle Valentini Puffer exists in the real world. As you can see, the Pet Society artist has done a great job of bringing this specimen into the game.

FarmVille Freak Pookie Spots Chocolate Cow & Nacho Mastery Sign

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 03:00 AM PDT

The picture above displays at least 3 "Unreleased" items that we have featured on FarmVille Freak in the past: The Chocolate Cow, Chocolate Calf, and Kangaroo. However, these unreleased items are seen on an actual farm!

Although, Lexilicious hinted there would be a Chocolate Cow coming soon, there has been no recent sightings of a Kanagroo (yet).

Of course Nachos (also previously Unreleased) debuted today and are a limited edition crop lasting only 24 hours and there is NO Crop Mastery even though the picture above clearly shows a Nacho Crop Mastery Sign on a farm. What do you think?
