BarnVille Massacre parody game: It's like FarmVille .... with guns Posted: 26 Apr 2010 12:00 PM PDT In this simple shooter, you play a farmer whose mission it to keep livestock off the farm using any means necessary -- in this case, an assortment of weapons, including everything from a simple handgun to an AK-47. There are other upgrades as well, other projectiles and a harvester that can be used to kill every animal in the playing field. Playing pretty much involves using the mouse to aim and shoot, and despite the lack of polish, BarnVille Massacre is strangely addictive; we recommend squeezing off a few rounds while waiting for your FarmVille crops to grow. Go ahead -- put those [Via Addicting Games]

Mafia Wars properties overhauled in every city Posted: 26 Apr 2010 11:00 AM PDT In February, Mafia Wars upgraded properties in New York, giving them a graphical polish and the ability to collect cash from all of them at once. Today, all properties across the game get the same treatment -- a more attractive presentation, the ability to collect from all at once and -- as you make more money -- additional properties will be available for purchase. Check out the before and after for Mafia Wars Cuba after the jump > Before: After: See? The new properties look a billion times better and requires fewer clicks to collect all of our cash. These same changes have been applied to the businesses in Bangkok and Moscow, and the one change we noticed with the New York properties is that the map marked 'Coming Soon' at the bottom of the page is no where to be found.

Happy Aquarium: Limited Edition Pearl Idol is back and going fast! Posted: 26 Apr 2010 09:30 AM PDT Buying the statue, however, will allow you to earn 1 Pearl every 24 hours. It's also possible to buy the statue with Pearls -- 237 Pearls to be exact, which means you've got eight months (going with 30 days per month) before the Pearl Idol lets you break even. But the price doesn't seen to be a deterrent for most players. So far, over 500 statues were purchased within the past hour from the game!

PetVille: NEW! Post-It art with Pets-It Posted: 26 Apr 2010 06:30 AM PDT While 50 Coins per Pets-It seems a tad pricey, the ability to create one's own wall art is awesome, and the Pets-It Art Packs has a lot of potential. Just look at the image of the blue bunny head on the right from Zynga.

Restaurant City: Free Rice and Sugar to fans Posted: 26 Apr 2010 06:00 AM PDT To promote a second wave of Japan for their Japanese Cafe theme, Restaurant City is offering free sugar and rice to fans of their Facebook fanpage. The sugar is for promoting the new Dance Arcade, an homage to the popular Japanese dancing simulation "Dance Dance Revolution" created by Konami. And the rice is for advertising the Monster Robot, which is essentially a mechanized version of Gozilla. Both items are animated. Dance Arcade costs 15 PlayFish Cash, and Monster Robot costs 20 PFC. Note: All links below will launch the game. You only need to keep the game window open for a few seconds to accept your free item. Pet Society: Peter Pan "Limited Edition" Statue Posted: 26 Apr 2010 05:15 AM PDT More surprising than this high quantity is that so many people have already snapped these up. The picture above was taken less than two hours after the statue's release. Let's do the math: 250,000 - 241,407 = 8593 statues sold Given the astronomical price tag of this statue (16,000 coins), we can assume that most of these statues were bought with the help of the Bank, where you can get 18,000 coins instantly for $20 U.S. 8593 / 2 = 4296 bought the $20 bag of coins 4296 x $20 = $85,920 $85,920 in less than two hours! And this is a low estimate. If 8000 people went to the bank to purchase this "limited edition" statue, Playfish made $160,000 in that same time frame. If every statue is bought through the bank, Playfish will make $5 million off this item. The theme this week may be "never grow up," complete with Tinkerbell outfits and Neverland scenes, but some of us have clearly grown up and grown shrewd. FarmVille: Co-Op Farmers, Beware of this Glitch Posted: 26 Apr 2010 05:05 AM PDT From: FarmVille Freak Paul To: Farmville Freak "I have discovered a huge, horrendous bug in Farmville's co-operative farming. It will destroy days of effort and seriously piss off your friends. Here's what happens. "Let's say you and a friend take on a job to plant 1000 Whateverberries. You plant 500 and the meter shows "50% planted", then your neighbour plants 500 and the meter shows "100% planted". "Fine, but lets say you decide to replant some of the Whateverberries elsewhere. Here's the flaw - when you delete crops you've planted for a job, the meter does not go down!!! "You delete 50 Whateverberries, the meter should say 95% planted, but it still says 100%. You don't notice it and replant anyway and all seems fine. "Sadly the game hasn't registered the re-plants and only notices the missing crops when it comes to harvesting. "When all the crops have been harvested, it says 100% planted, 95% harvested, but you can NEVER harvest the last 5% because you deleted them and the game doesn't realise you replaced them. "You don't know this and - because you've done all your harvesting, you think your friend or others involved haven't quite finished their harvesting. "It stays on 95% and time ebbs away. You lose the gold award. You lose the silver. It stays on 95% right up to the last second of the bronze award while you frantically email your friend saying "for heavens sake do you bleeding harvesting!!". But like you, they finished harvesting a long time ago and it's Farmville who screwed up. "This has happened to me twice so far. Please let everyone else know NEVER DELETE CROPS - because it puts a strain on friendship and you pull your hair out." This article was reprinted with permission from FarmVille Freak.

Island Paradise Tiki Wheel rewards players for return visits Posted: 26 Apr 2010 05:00 AM PDT This is a feature that many social games have in some form or another. A daily lottery is the perfect way to keep players logging back in and building a connection with the game. The key part of the Island Paradise lottery is that the more consecutive days that you log in, the more the maximum reward will increase. This is nice because it rewards the truly dedicated players who make it a point to log in every day to visit the game. With all of the choices for Facebook games out there, it's easy for one to be lost in the shuffle. I generally pick the games that reward me for logging in often, that way I know I'm getting the most for my time. What about you? Do you enjoy the daily lotteries in games?

YoVille 5 million fans reward -- a Black Velvet Robe Posted: 26 Apr 2010 04:00 AM PDT Having 5 million fans is a pretty huge deal. It means that every time the YoVille team releases an update or want to alert their fans about something, 5 MILLION people will get the message. That's one heck of a broadcasting mechanism. It's also a huge accomplishment, because many games do not ever get 5 million players, much less 5 million fans! So what are you waiting for? If you're not already a fan, head over to the official YoVille page and hit the "like" button so that all players earn a free black robe!

Mafia Wars Paris challenge mission officially opens Posted: 26 Apr 2010 03:00 AM PDT If you've been wanting a change of scenery, Mafia Wars Paris challenge missions have officially started, and you've been tasked with stealing the Mona Lisa. Mafia Wars Paris Chapter 1 is now unlocked, and consists of three jobs: Enter Paris, Track Down Your Fixer and Gather the Materials. These jobs don't work like the average job, however. Each requires you to have a certain number of Paris maps to complete, and you can only do each job a certain number of times before you attract the attention of the Paris authorities. The more aware the police are of your activities, the more the job will cost (in energy and number of maps) to complete. Once your heat meter is completely filled, it takes 8 hours for it to reset again. If you complete all of these three Chapter 1 jobs, you'll be rewarded with The Fixer (30 A, 56 D). Chapters 2 and 3 will open next week and the week after that, respectively. We haven't finished Chapter 1 yet, but some have reported that -- in addition to the Fixer -- the game is giving Reward Points instead of Skill Points on completion. Have you started the Mafia Wars Paris Challenge Missions yet? What do you think?
