| Cafe World PSA (of possible suckage): We've consolidated your gifts. Posted: 18 Mar 2010 12:00 PM PDT Here are the Possible Issues of Suckage: - Right now, what's really needed is Inventory Consolidation, not Gifts Consolidation. The Inventory is a much busier place than the Gift Box and when you're buying up to 100 tiles to lay your floors, and dozens more to line your walls, you don't want to have to click and drag every single tile/wallpaper to the Cash Register so you can sell them off. - And many players have said this, but consolidating the food items in the Gift Box is a terrible idea when one doesn't have many dishes stored in there and would like to portion out his or her servings at his or her own discretion. Because as long as your restaurant has food on its counters, your Cafe Popularity rating won't plunge. We're sure Cafe World is listening to its players, because just last week, they put out a survey asking for people's responses to their Scratch Lotto. So people should go ahead with their suggestions. Tweaks like this can end up significantly affecting gameplay. The rest of this post contains the Cafe World announcement itself, via their official Facebook page note: - Ready-to-Serve food will be stacked for easier serving. For example: if you had 2 food gifts with 100 servings each, now you will have 1 icon of that food gift with 200 servings, instead of 100. - Instant-Serve items will all serve at once, but the amount of coins will be multiplied by the number you serve. For example: if you had 2 drink gifts of the same type, that would give 10 coins for each customer, now that gift will give 20 coins for each customer. So, you will receive the same amount of total coins you would have received from serving all your servings of each gift. The number of the instant serve gift you have will be displayed next to the item in your gift box. - Décor items will have a number next to them showing how many are in your gift box (like in the existing inventory). When you use 1, the number will lower. When all servings are gone, the gift icon will be removed from your gift box until you receive more of that item. (If you do not see your decor items, please scroll through your whole gift box. They may have changed position) - The Sell All Button will sell all your gifts for a discounted price. You could use this if you could like to quickly clear out all your gifts and receive coins. You will see a confirmation screen asking whether you would like to sell the items or keep them. This screen will also show you the amount you will receive.

| Happy Aquarium heads to Ireland's magical flipside Posted: 18 Mar 2010 11:30 AM PDT Two of the items here used to great effect are the "Pot of Gold" and the "Shimmering Rainbow", which was first introduced as part of the Fairyland set back in February. But two other interesting innovations are the "Arched Rock Stacker" (image below) and the "Flat Rock Stacker" (not shown here). These "Stackers" can stack on top of each other, and then you can platform items on top of them. The "Arched" is 400 Coins, while the "Flat" is 300 Coins. You can see how the "Irish Castle" item was raised high in this demo tank, using this method.

| Mafia Wars 'Steal Lucky's Pot of Gold' promo seems anything but lucky Posted: 18 Mar 2010 10:00 AM PDT Along with the St. Patrick's Derby Day jobs and the new St. Patrick's Day collection, Mafia Wars also rolled out another new feature called 'Steal Lucky's Pot of Gold.' To find the 'gold' aka 100 Reward Points or other winnings you have to buy seven 'mystery' items (you can find the items by looking for a green four-leaf clover next to it) in the Marketplace. The mystery items will change daily, so you'll have to keep a sharp eye out for those clovers. While the note above says you'll be rewarded with a special discount, it seems a little odd to have a promotion that asks you to buy 7 items at roughly 25 reward points to MAYBE win 100 reward points? Unless we're missing something, it sounds like anyone who tries to steal 'Lucky's Pot of Gold' will be anything but lucky. Items that had the green clover leaf at the time of this posting are listed below (please note the green shamrock in the upper left hand corner of each item). Mafia Wars 'Steal Lucky's Pot of Gold' -- is it worth spending the Reward Points on this promotion?

| Here's an egg-cellent scoop of Pet Society's Eggvasion 2010! Posted: 18 Mar 2010 09:00 AM PDT You can see these new eggs (Pink, Light Purple, Green, and Aquamarine) displayed inside the Easter Egg Cabinet in the above image. (Standing proudly beside it, is my pet, "Peachy Keen".) These new eggs can be grabbed by simply walking through the trees in the "Friends" part of town. I picked up all 4 (plus an extra Aquamarine) in just a couple of minutes! The Cabinet, itself, costs a cheap 200 Coins at the Furniture Store, and is meant to hold Hideeni's 14 eggs, but now there's 18! We're hoping to get a boost in size to the egg-displaying capacity of the Cabinet, but wait, coming soon will be new individual Egg Holders and the opportunity to decorate our own eggs! 1) Stone Age 2) Snow White 3) Autumn Faerie 4) Food Booth 5) Fortune 6) Faerie 7) Fairy Tale ...and 8) Toys I bought an egg from the "Food Booth" machine, set it in Peachy's living room, and within a minute, the egg hatched into a "Ice Cream Booth" (see pic on the right), which sells for 299 Coins. Try it out and see what prizes you'll get! Just remember, the Easter event is set to end on April 11th GMT.

| NY decor debut in Restaurant City served with free chicken! Posted: 18 Mar 2010 08:30 AM PDT Also, with the launch, we've discovered that the "Statue of Cookery" isn't all just looks! While it costs 150,000 Coins, it actually brings a 'restaurant effect' of +1 second to your customers' patience. Which means that you'll be able to retain more customers and get more money! Note, however, you can't stack up the seconds by having more than one Statue installed. Click here to get your FREE Chicken: http://playfi.sh/bsZFhl and launch the game!

| Zynga city building game coming soon? Survey says ... maybe Posted: 18 Mar 2010 08:00 AM PDT Playdom's Social City has been gaining users by the millions in a matter of days, and competitor Zynga has taken note. According to ISG, Zynga has published a survey on Facebook which asks two specific questions about the hot city buidling game -- "How frequently do you currently play Social City?" and "Into which of the following ranges does your current Social City level fall?" Zynga currently does not have any 'city' names trademarked (though we're interested in seeing how soon Zynga launches a hotel themed game, since they have the names HotelVille and Hotel World trademarked), but if those surveyed say they spend lots of time playing Social City -- we're certain a Zynga city building game will be on its way soon. We couldn't help but wonder, though, how many of you are actually playing Social City on Facebook? We certainly are. Let us know in the poll below.

The pet sim game on Facebook will now reward players more coins and more experience points (XP) depending on your level. Basic XP is displayed in the "GIVE AWAY" pop-up Do you think these changes actually make the game easier to play?

| New Border for New Yoville Layout! Posted: 18 Mar 2010 06:00 AM PDT After hearing all the complaints about New YoVille layout , borders are released in store to cover up the empty space around the sides. Colored curtain patterns are available for 45 coins and plain ones for 25 coins. The important thing to notice is that you cant place anything over it but it can hide anything. This New Layout was earlier tested with few YoVillians and will soon be available to all. Getting borders for both sides is a good but what about the bottom and top? This new improvement really needs your feedback. So hope to hear that in comments. Thank you Spiralda for all pics and updates. This article originally appeared on YoVille Lounge.

| FarmVille Caterpillar & Invisible Cat! Posted: 18 Mar 2010 05:00 AM PDT It seems like FarmVille is celebrating the the Alice in Wonderland craze with the release of the hookah smoking Caterpillar (even though smoke has been substituted for bubbles) and the Cheshire Cat Invisible Cat. The Caterpillar and Invisible Cat are both available in the FarmVille Market and can only be purchased with farm cash. The Invisible Cat is a harvestable animal, meaning he will yield coins when harvested. When placed upon your farm, the Invisible Cat will sometimes appear invisible revealing only a grinning smile, but he will also occasionally be visible. The Caterpillar is a decorative animal that does not yield coins. What do you think of these new Alice in Wonderland inspired animals? Would you like to see more? This article originally appeared on FarmVille Freak.

| Zynga Poker: The perfect Facebook game? Posted: 17 Mar 2010 10:30 PM PDT Zynga Poker is social in a way that most games on Facebook or not. The average Facebook game lets you interact with your friends through the occasional visit to their virtual home, or by hiring a picture of their avatar to work for you, or by letting you compare your high score with theirs, or one of a thousand other indirect interactions between you and other players. In Zynga Poker, on the other hand, you're actually sitting at a table with friends and strangers, battling for virtual chips in real time. This difference means more than just the ability to chat with your fellow players and send gifts directly to their chair, though both are nice features. It means that Zynga Poker is a true battle of competitive multiplayer strategy, rather than merely a story of inexorable progress. The basics of which hands win and what hold cards are good can be learned in no time, but the vagaries of betting strategy and bluffing can take a lifetime to master, and vary depending on the personalities of the real people you're playing against. In poker, you're playing the other players as much as you're playing the cards. So it's not surprising that poker is one of the most popular genres on Facebook. Zynga's version is the most popular of those on the network, helped along by cross-promotion from Zynga's other games, but also by an excellent interface. Cards are large and easy to read, and the game provides helpful sound effects to help you follow the betting action. The small bell that sounds when its your turn to act is especially nice, making it easy to follow the game even when you're multitasking. The interface is also helped by handy checkbox buttons that let you check, fold or call any bet before it's your turn to act, so you don't have to constantly be on the watch for your chance to act. The only real problem with Zynga Poker has to do with the flood of virtual money that's constantly being fed into the system. Zynga Poker throws chips bonus at players for practically everything. You get bonus chips for signing in daily. You get bonus chips for winning certain hands and accomplishing other achievements. You can get chips as gifts from your poker playing buddies and for completing team challenges. You can even get chips just for clicking a randomly appearing button that says "get 2000 free chips" that just pops up. Getting chips in Zynga poker isn't a matter of poker skill, it's a matter of patience. The net effect of this glut of chips is that people don't play logically. Since players aren't playing for real money (for the most part -- you can buy chips with real cash if you really want) and since it's nearly impossible to totally run out of chips, players bet much more liberally than they would in real life. In a full nine-person table, it's almost impossible to bluff out the opposition, because there will usually be someone who decides to call your bet just for fun. And a good portion of the time, that someone will luck into a good hand that he had no right even playing, just because he can. This problem is lessened in tournaments, where players can only lose a set number of chips before leaving the table, but it's still a problem. Even with this major flaw, the social elements, smooth interface and timeless gameplay showcased in Zynga Poker make it perhaps the perfect shpwcase for what's special about Facebook gaming.
