| Infinity Mafia Wars toolbar 6.0 released Posted: 22 Feb 2010 11:00 AM PST Want a toolbar that will help you get to Mafia Wars faster (and hack into the game while you're there?) Skip the official Zynga toolbar and check out Infinity Clan's Mafia Wars toolbar, which was recently updated to version 6.0. The creators cross their hearts that there this tool does not contain spyware, adware and that it will not collect any data "or even care about you." You decide whether you want to believe them or not. If you're aware of the risks (spam, phishing, Zynga banning you because you're hacking into the game) and decide to download it anyway, you can find it at infinitymwtoolbar.com. The download doesn't take long and then after restarting Firefox. the bar will appear at the top of your browser. It's not the best looking toolbar out there (which is the only way we can really judge this thing right now, since this is our first time using it), but we know this thing has a huge fanbase. There's also tons of extras packed onto the bar, including a ticker-tape style RSS feed, weather, e-mail notification, search and more. For any additional questions, please check out the tool's help section on the official site. Install the InfinityMW Toolbar 6.0 now > If you have any tips on the best uses for the InfinityMW Toolbar, please let us know.

| Happy Pets Mystery Boxes: Find out what's inside Posted: 22 Feb 2010 11:00 AM PST If you don't want to be an unhappy Happy Pets player, you should read this post for a heads-up of what to expect from the game's new Mystery Boxes. Shortly after the boxes made their debut last Friday, upset players were already complaining on the official Happy Pets forum. Here's a recap of the major gripes: 1) Inclusion of items that cost LESS than the boxes. 2) A seemingly ineffectual "Add Luck" feature. 3) No special items have been declared for the Mystery Boxes, meaning there's nothing new. But here's the good news: 1) You can get XP by clicking on your friend's Mystery Boxes to "add luck". 2) Even if you buy a "Mystery Box" for 50 Coins, you're still eligible for items that normally require Facebook Credits to get. 3) "Premium Mystery Box" guarantees you a premium (or Facebook Credits-only) item inside. Anyway, we thought it'd be helpful to report on the items found so far, and what their prices are. I've also bought 7 Mystery Boxes to see what the results will be after 24 hrs. List of User-Reported Items: Bird Ornament - Costs 8 FB Credits Cast Iron Candelabra - Only available on the Gifts page Large Black Television - Costs 100 Coins or 10 FB Credits; for Level 5+ Pink Lava Lamp - Costs 8 FB Credits Silver Lamp - Costs 25 Coins Wood Bookcase - Costs 8 FB Credits Window with Yellow Curtains - Costs 150 Coins or 10 FB Credits; for Level 4+

| FishVille tries to out-tank Happy Aquarium in the race to space Posted: 22 Feb 2010 10:30 AM PST Just mere minutes after Happy Aquarium debuted their new UFO Demo Tank, FishVille sent Facebook notifications to all its players claiming that they've space-themed environments, fish, and decor "coming soon" later this week. Let's see if FishVille, the other Great Aquarium Games Titan of Facebook, has what it takes to knock Happy Aquarium out of its orbit!

| Happy Aquarium's UFO demo tank is out of this world! Posted: 22 Feb 2010 10:00 AM PST As usual, you can click on items within "Demo Tank" to buy 'em, but depending on how you want to pay for items, you need to be careful what you click on. For example, the "Waving Alien" can be bought in the demo tank, but if you do that, the game will automatically deduct from your Pearls, even if you intended to use Facebook Credits for a purchase instead. So I suggest you get it from the in-game store under the "Props" tab. But there's two new items that can't be beat. Keep reading to check out the details and preview pics below: The most awesome and expensive item, is the "ufo", which can be found under the "Special" tab in the store for a whopping 84 Pearls or 70 Facebook Credits (or US $7)! But it's a fully animated item with blinking lights, swims around your tank, and randomly gives your fish a shake by hitting them with its tractor beam! For a slightly cheaper option, you can go for an Angler, which unlocks at Level 40, but can be gotten for 51 FB Credits. It makes a cute baby fish, but will grow up with a scary toothy grin and the ability to light up whenever you tap the glass of your tank.

| Happy Pets free giftables: Dog and cat collectors' plates Posted: 22 Feb 2010 10:00 AM PST Happy Pets is jumping on the collectibles bandwagon by releasing a series of cat and dog collectors' plates, which can sent (and received) by friends. There are five plates in all -- three with dogs and three with cats. See how long it'll take you to collect 'em all! How many collectors' plates do you have already?

| Happy Pets pigs fly into the in-game store Posted: 22 Feb 2010 09:30 AM PST You've heard the phrase happier than a pig in, well, you know. That's what the new pigs in the Happy Pets store will be once you adopt them and add them to your menagerie of pets. The new pink pigs can be located in the Happy Pets store. To find them click the 'Adopt a Pet' tab and then select 'Other,' and there, among the turtles, duck and jackelopes is an adorable pink pig with a purplish ears and snout. The pigs cost 18 Facebook credits, roughly $2, and -- if you're willing to spend the bucks -- will be a

| FarmVille Adoptable Gray Horse! Posted: 22 Feb 2010 09:00 AM PST FarmVille has added the Gray Horse as a new adoptable lost and roaming animal. As an adoptable animal, the Gray Horse will appear on your farm and give you the option to help it out by posting it in your Facebook newsfeed for FarmVille neighbors to adopt. If one shows up on your farm, you cannot keep it for yourself. The Gray Horse is also gifted to you when you are finished building your Horse Stable. | Update: FarmVille $5.99 subscription fee [not] coming soon Posted: 22 Feb 2010 07:00 AM PST Almost 90% of the 700 people who voted in our poll said they would not pay to play FarmVille, so many virtual farmers will probably be breathing a sigh of relief. The idea of a subscription model of some sort is still not that unthinkable, maybe as another version of the game where all of the premium items are unlocked, would appeal to those who are already spending big bucks in the game. Rumors that FarmVille will soon charge players a monthly subscription to play have been popping up for some time, and today, we discovered more detailed information on a new pay-to-play version of the Facebook farming game. Fan site FarmVille Freak reports that one player sent an email with the following information: "Zynga has announced that as of March 31, 2010, FarmVille will no longer be available in its Beta version. The game will be available for a subscription fee of $5.99 per month and will include additional levels above 70..." There's no extra info on where the player found these juicy tidbtis, but it does seem to fall in line with other things we've heard around the virtual water cooler. Adding a required monthly fee would be an interesting development, since it would certainly test the loyalty of the 75+ million active users out there. Even if they lose a good chunk of their audience, they may still stand to gain from the few who stick around, paying a guaranteed $6 a month. This is especially important since it's also rumored that Zynga needs to raise more money in order to go public sometime this year. All of this subscription talk also comes on the heels of several revealing surveys that show while players, (mostly middle-aged women who are 'obsessed' with the game) sink hours into the game every week, they are not necessarily willing to shell out real-life cash to pay for premium virtual items. One survey also reports that as soon as these games are no longer free, a majority of these otherwise devoted players will say sayonara and move on to another free playable Web game.

| How to update LED Tickers in Pet Society Posted: 22 Feb 2010 06:00 AM PST This news comes from Jacel, a reader and PS gardener extraordinaire. There's been a recent change in the way you update your pet's status on the LED tickers. The button to update the message has been removed. Now you click directly on the sign. A menu comes up offering you the choice of changing the message and also posting the status to your Facebook page. We think this is a cleaner interface. It gets rid of one item on the screen, which has been getting more and more crowded lately. We wondered if this change might mean that we could buy multiple signs and display different messages throughout the house. However, that is not the case. No matter how many signs you have, you get to display only one message at a time. Make it a good one! This article originally appeared on Pet Society Anonymous.

| FarmVille Freak Hello's Winter Olympic Set Posted: 22 Feb 2010 06:00 AM PST Because I love you guys, I finally got enough Farm Dollars together to buy the Winter Olympic set and I took a screenshot of it. I put some Hay Bales near the items so you can get an appreciation of their sizes. The Ski Jump is cool. It has fast rotors on the Ski Lift with the Duck doing a wicked aerial. The Ice Skate Rink looks nice with the 3 judges giving a Cow a score of three 10's for doing a figure 8 without moving its legs. And the Bobsled team is awesome at working as a team leaning left and right. Maxed out: Maxed in: This article originally appeared on FarmVille Freak.

| Eye-roll inducing 'Love Shot' game pimps latest J-Lo vehicle Posted: 22 Feb 2010 06:00 AM PST Then there are games like Love Shot, a goofy advergame for the new Jennifer Lopez film, 'The Back-Up Plan.' Love Shot borrows from classic arcade game Galaga, but instead of shooting advancing aliens with lasers, you shoot down 'life's obstacles,' e.g. a career, education, bills and Mr. Wrong ... with heart-shaped sperm. Yup, you read that right, you shoot life's obstacles with sperm. Wha? Once you've eliminated the obstacles, the goal is to shoot the heart at the top of the screen (with more sperm) until it reaches 100%. The round ends and then the next begins, which is pretty much the same thing all over again. We're all for creative advertising, but if you're going to do it in the form of a game, it -- at the very least -- should have a little more quality control. Games, by their nature, should be entertaining. Now, not only do we not want to play Love Shot, but also put the Back-Up Plan firmly atop our 'don't see' movie list this spring.

| FarmVille Freak Poetry Corner: Farmer Fred Posted: 22 Feb 2010 05:30 AM PST Farmer Fred shared with us this poem he wrote about the initial resistance and later addiction that many people experience with this little game called FarmVille. Thanks for sharing Farmer Fred! Check out his poem below: "Do your Facebook friends constantly demand- "You gotta start a farm!"? They say things like, "Farmville's fun...Don't worry. There is no harm."? "Haven't you yet?" They continually implore. After all, what are good neighbors for? You think, "Gee. Do I really need to plow?" "And how!" They say. "Absolutely you should...Quit messing around...Do it now." You say, "Too busy. No time. I can't." They say, "It's a craze taking over the world. Start now. You had better plant." Oh, by the way, you'll also need friends to weed. And don't forget, you must buy seed. If all this info has you in a dither, there is no doubt...your crops will wither. No time to plant, weed and hoe? Stand by your guns and Just Say, NO! But sure as shootin'...There is no doubt... You can't escape...you'll soon find out. Just a matter of time, my FB friend, that your eggs are hatched; your goose is cooked, You'll find out one day you're unavoidably hooked. So say NO to Farmville. That's my stern warning, you see... Now I gotta go. My crops are calling me." (by FarmVille Freak Farmer Fred) What should Farmer Fred's poem be titled? This article originally appeared on FarmVille Freak.

| SuperPoke! on Facebook makes a comeback ... as a game Posted: 22 Feb 2010 05:00 AM PST Remember in the early days of Facebook, when when everyone was always 'poking' or 'throwing a sheep' at each other? That application was called SuperPoke!, and once more sophisticated apps like FarmVille rolled around, this one faded into the background. Much to our surprise, it looks like SuperPoke! is making a comeback on Facebook in the form of two games: SuperPoke Pets! and SPP Ranch. The two SuperPoke games launched a while ago, but have both been gaining in popularity, picking up1 million new users last week, says AppData. Super Poke Pets!, much like all of the other pet simulation games on Facebook, involves adopting and caring for a virtual pet, and SPP Ranch puts players in charge of buying , raising and then setting animals free. Both of these games are irresistibly cute, which seems like the main appeal for SPP Ranch and SuperPoke pets. The actual game experience is like most of the other Facebook games -- caring for your and friends' pets/farms to level up and earn coins, which can be used to buy items in the in-game store. Other games gaining steam include My City Life, with 1 million new players last week, and Rock You's Zoo World (+700K last week), which has is one of the most popular games on Facebook with around 20 million monthly active users. So, if you're bored with FarmVille, Cafe World or whatever other Facebook games you're playing -- give this foursome a try and see if they're worth adding to your regular social gaming rotation.

| Unhappy Happy Pets players say Mystery Boxes are a grab-bag gamble Posted: 22 Feb 2010 04:00 AM PST Grumblings can be heard on the official Happy Pets forum, "Happy Pets Community" because of last week's new Mystery Boxes. As a reminder, Mystery Boxes can be bought from the in-game store under the "Goods" tab. Currently, there are two kinds, "Mystery Box", which costs 50 Coins and opens within 24 hours, and "Premium Mystery Box", which costs 12 Facebook Credits and opens instantly. For some extra fun, you've got the option for friends to "Add Luck" to your box, which is suppose to increase your chance at getting a rarer item. Right now, the complaints are that the whole situation is a grab-bag gamble. Players comparing results have revealed that the game's makers would stuff a box with an item that's worth LESS than the price of the Mystery Box itself. On top of that, adding luck doesn't seem to affect the rarity of the item either, and the items are just furniture from the store. For example, one user got a 50 Coins "Mystery Box", and received a "Silver Lamp", which is only 25 Coins at the store. Another paid for a "Premium Mystery Box", costing 12 FB Credits, only to get back a "Pink Lava Lamp", which is 8 FB Credits. While some players are willing to take the risk, this set-up sounds like a huge turn-off to others. Because what's the point of spending Coins or FB Credits on these boxes if you can't break even with them?
